Because real Italy rarely looks like a postcard

Why we don't show Italy as perfect

In photographs Italy is almost always perfect. The sun sets over Tuscany. The road curves perfectly between vineyards. On the table — pasta, a glass of wine, and olive oil.

And an old Fiat is parked exactly where it needs to be for a beautiful shot. We love that Italy too. But we know it is only part of the story.

Because real Italy can be different.
And that is precisely what we want to show at Bike & Travel.

Italy begins where the postcard ends

You can come to Tuscany and see perfect hills. Or you can drive along the road between them, stop at a small bar where locals drink coffee, and discover that it is precisely this moment that will be remembered more vividly than yet another famous landmark.

You can come to Apulia for Alberobello. But the real story begins on the road between the white towns — among olive groves, old stone walls, and small villages.

You can come to Sardinia for the sea. And then turn into the mountains and realize that it is precisely there that you saw the island in a way impossible to see from a tourist bus.

We love Italy not only for what is customary to photograph. We are interested in everything that lies between the famous points.

Sometimes the road matters more than the destination

In an ordinary journey, the road is often perceived as time between two points. We think it's the opposite. If you're cycling through Italy, the road becomes part of the journey.

You see how the landscape changes. You notice small chapels, vineyards, farms, old walls. You stop for coffee. You accidentally turn onto another street. You talk to locals. And gradually you understand: you didn't come just to see Italy. You are living it.

That's why our cycling tours in Italy are not just about kilometres and beautiful routes. It's a way to see the country from the inside.

We don't promise that every day will be perfect

Sometimes it will be hot.
Sometimes the road will turn out harder than it looked on the map.
Sometimes the small café will be closed.
Sometimes you'll have to climb uphill before that very view opens up before you.

But it's after that climb that it will look completely different. Because you earned it. A journey doesn't have to be perfect to become unforgettable.

We choose places, not checklists

Every region of Italy has a list of places you «must see.» But we’re interested in a different question: what lies between them?

In Tuscany — roads among vineyards and small borghi.
In Apulia — centuries-old olive groves and white towns.
In Sicily — mountains, sea, and old roads.
In Sardinia — coastline, mountain routes, and small settlements.

It's precisely from these details that a journey is built. That's why our routes are not just a set of landmarks. It's a carefully assembled path. We check the roads in advance, choose hotels, restaurants, and stops so a person can stop thinking about logistics and simply enjoy the journey.

What "Italy without filters" means

For us this doesn't mean showing Italy worse. Quite the opposite. It means showing it whole.
Beautiful.
Sunny.
Delicious.
But sometimes noisy.
Sometimes imperfect.
With a dusty road.
With a shop closed for siesta.
With a small family restaurant.
With unexpected rain.
With a conversation that started by chance.
With a road where you want to stop simply because it's beautiful around you.

It's precisely from such moments that real Italy is built.
We create premium cycling tours and active journeys through Italy where not only the route matters, but everything that happens around it.
We can create a custom route through Italy — tailored to your dates, group, fitness level, interests, and preferred pace. Because sometimes the best route is one that doesn't exist on the website yet.

Italy doesn't have to be perfect.
It has to be yours.
